Doris Lewis Schlegel, 85 of Long Branch, passed away Monday, July 05, 2010 at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

Mrs. Schlegel was born in Williamsburg Pa. and lived in Lewiston, Pa. before moving to Long Branch in 1956. She worked as an assembler at Bendix Corp. Eatontown.

Mrs. Schlegel was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, West Long Branch. She was a member of the Long Branch Senior Citizens Association. Mrs. Schlegel and her friends enjoyed their morning coffee together at Dunkin Donuts in West Long Branch.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Emil A. Schlegel, who died in 1987. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Aurora Schlegel, Oakhurst and Dennis and Helene Schlegel, Howell Twp.; a brother, Melvin Knepper, Long Branch; three sisters, Alice Perri, West Long Branch, Susan Williamson, Port St. Lucie, Fl and Beatrice Davis, Long Branch; her five grandchildren, Nicole, Tommy, Jodi, D.J. and Lance Schlegel.

Visitation will be Wednesday July 7, 6-9 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch, NJ. Funeral services will be Thursday July 8th , 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Reformation, Broadway and Locust Avenue, West Long Branch. Interment will follow in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
