| ![]() Richard T. Wingert, 83, of Oceanport passed away Saturday July 24th at the King Manor Care Center, Neptune. Mr. Wingert was born in Long Branch and lived there before moving to Oceanport 33 years ago. He was communicant and usher at Star of the Sea RC Church, Christ the King Parish, Long Branch. He was a 1945 graduate of Long Branch High School, where he lettered in Basketball and Track. Mr. Wingert served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. After his honorable discharge he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves at Lakehurst Air Station. He was a Foreman in the Signal Department of New Jersey Transit Railroad where he worked for 42 years. He was a member of the Long Branch Old Guard and a life time member of the Oceanport Senior Citizens Association. Mr. Wingert was pre-deceased by his Father Benjamin Wingert and his Mother Helen Alberti; and his infant daughter Patricia. Surviving is his devoted wife of 62 years Helen Miller Wingert; his loving children and their families Steven and Sharon, Bedminster, NJ; Sally and Jim Mc Evoy, Ocean Twp.; his loving sister, Dorothy Zambrano, West Long Branch; his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, James T. and his wife Tanya , Patrick and Katie McEvoy and Andrew Wingert; James P. and Ryan McEvoy. And many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday July 26th, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 27th , 9:30 AM at Star of the Sea RC Church, Second Avenue, Long Branch. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
